Company News >> LCD screens have been declining for four consecutive years, and domestic screen manufacturers such as BOE should learn from Samsung and LG 28th,March,2022
As we all know, from the perspective of the global screen industry, China is already the world's largest chip producer and exporter. BOE is already the world's first in terms of screen shipment area and shipment volume, while TCL Huaxing Optoelectronics ranks second.

Back then, China was still "lack of cores and screens", but now it has become the world's best exporter of screens, which is really something to be proud of.

However, it should be noted that the arrogance of Chinese screen manufacturers is mainly reflected in LCD screens. In OLED screens, the Korean system is the strongest. Samsung has won about 65% of the global OLED screen market, while LG has won 15% of the OLED screen market, all other manufacturers have only won about 20% of the OLED screen market.

Compared with LCD screens, the technical difficulty of OLED screens is relatively higher, and the profit will be higher. In addition, it is generally believed that OLED is the more advanced technology, and LCD is slowly being eliminated.

Perhaps because of this, LG and Samsung have stated that they will withdraw from the LCD market and turn to new technologies such as OLED, MiniLED, and MicroLED.

In fact, from the perspective of the global market situation, LCD panels are also continuing to decline. Since 2019, the volume of LCD panels has declined, and it will continue to decline in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

According to the latest report of the professional organization Omdia, they expect that the overall LCD panel shipments will decline in 2022, which means that it will decline for four consecutive years.

The reason for the decline is that on the one hand, the trend of OLED is becoming more and more obvious, and many LCD screens have been replaced by OLED, and there are also miniLED MicroLED, which are also eating into the LCD market.

I don't know what everyone thinks of this news. I think it may be time for BOE and TCL to learn from Samsung and LG and spend more resources on relatively more advanced technologies such as OLED.

Sticking to the LCD screen may still seem to have a large market space now, and it can still make money, but the profit margin is actually very thin, and all domestic screen manufacturers are involved in it. Only by engaging in more advanced technologies can we truly not lag behind Korean manufacturers.
