                                         Samsung display has split the OLED business into an independent business unit as part of the restructuring of the nonprofit business plan, the South Korean news agency quoted the insiders on Monday.
                               "Samsung Display has split the OLED business unit and many of Samsung Display's employees have joined the OLED business unit," said Samsung Display's official.
The official also said that the split OLED sector will put the LCD business at greater risk. He said: "Today, Samsung has launched a strategy to withdraw from the LCD business, because the business has no great prospects, and not profit.
                                Samsung Display spokesman also confirmed that the company has been looking for a variety of solutions to make up for the LCD business downturn. As the rise of Chinese competitors, LCD business profit margins are getting smaller and smaller.
                                In the small and medium-sized digital equipment market, Samsung is accelerating the transfer from the LCD to the OLED. Prior to this, Samsung Display has closed some of the LCD production line, and contact with Chinese companies, plans to sell these production lines to Chinese companies, such as located in Cheonan (Cheonan) L7 production line.
                                According to another official, Samsung Electronics is likely to acquire LCD business from Samsung Samsung in order to continue to maintain its TV business. Unlike LG, Samsung still insists on using the LCD screen in the TV market. Samsung Electronics holds about 85% of Samsung's shares, while Samsung SDI holds about 15% of the remaining.
                                Nomura Securities believes that OLED is the trend. By 2018, OLED will account for 1/3 of the smart phone panel.
                                Recently, Samsung Display from the hands of Apple has won the iPhone supply OLED screen contract. As LCD business downturn, Samsung Display operating loss of 270 billion yen in the first quarter of this year.
