E-paper is standard in many sci-fi productions, but the device is not yet widely used due to technical problems. Recently, researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden developed a flexible, ultra-thin, full-color e-paper that consumes less than one-tenth the power of an LCD display.

It is reported that the thickness of this material is extremely low, less than 1 micron, free to bend, superb flexibility, depending on the ability of the polymer to control the absorption and reflection of light. Andreas Dahlin, an assistant professor involved in the research and development of the project, and PhD student Kunli Xiong, who studied the laying of conducting polymers on nanostructures, found that this was a good fit for creating a paper-thin electronic display. Their research is published in Advanced Materials.
I understand that at present the electronic paper has not yet reached the commercial requirements, but the material has the theoretical and technical foundation, commercialization may be just around the corner.
