According to the latest data from IHT Technology, the mass production cost of AMOLED LCD panels has now been officially lower than that of LCD screens. This is the same as two years ago. The mass production cost of AMOLED LCD panels has been lower than that of LCD panels in 24 months. A quarterly 5.0-inch 1080p AMOLED screen costs only $14.30 per panel, while the LCD requires $14.6. In the fourth quarter of 2015, the two figures were $17.10 and $15.70 respectively.
This data is based on LTPS LCD mass production cost calculations. As AMOLED's mass production cost is lower than that of contemporary LCD products, AMOLED has rapidly promoted its application. Entry-level and mid-range models using AMOLED screens have also become popular. In the future, there will be more devices directly using AMOLED screens, which have features such as low energy consumption, bright colors, contrast, and high saturation.
