According to industry sources, BOE, China's largest display manufacturer, is seeking to provide OLED panels to Samsung Electronics, which directly threatens the interests of Samsung Display and LG Display.
A source who asked not to be named said: " BOE is planning to provide the corresponding OLED panel products to Samsung Galaxy Watch. And it is currently working on related samples."
BOE has provided some LCD panels to Samsung before, but has not yet provided OLED panels to the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. At the same time, BOE also plans to provide OLED panels for Huawei's flagship product Mate Pro, which will be launched later this year.
BOE began producing the sixth-generation OLED panel for the first time in May this year; however, due to the complexity of the production process, it is reported that the yield can only be maintained at around 30%. Samsung produces about 300,000 to 1 million watch wearables per month. For BOE, this will be a lucrative and stable opportunity; it will also lay the foundation for JD's support for other Samsung products, especially smartphones.
